Calendar 2026
4/29/2026
Back at the lake for another summer.
4/29/2026
It's cold and windy and there are dead bugs everywhere. I still love it.
5/1/2026
It's still early. I like these aspen trees better when they have leaves on them.
5/1/2026
I finally opened the boathouse and let the ducks out.
5/2/2026
Unpack, clean, purge, repack all the kitchen cabinets. How much Tupperware is too much?
5/5/2026
I finished my "deep clean" of the kitchen. All this stuff is destined for Barely Used in Park Rapids.
5/7/2026
It is still freezing cold here! I'm going to let my Roomba make a start on the Asian beetles in the log cabin.
5/9/2026
I put the deck furniture out even though it's too cold to sit out here. Next week will be better.
5/10/2026
This is just wishfull thinking today but soon I hope.
5/12/2026
Rob and Terri and Riley arrive. I hope they brought some warm weather them.
5/13/2026
First bass of the year with Burney. A good day: Bill 5, Burney 9.
5/16/2026
Hummingbirds are here.
5/16/2026
The wind finally died down enough to put in the dock. Rob has spotted a bass.
5/18/2026
Boat in the water. Not too windy today but cold (mid 40s)
5/20/2026
Can you see this? The birdbath is frozen over! WTF.
5/23/2026
Before
This is left over from last year's wind storm.
5/23/2026
During
The battery powered winch broke so we resorted to the old come-along.
5/23/2026
After
Nothing left be a little hole in the ground.
5/24/2026
We started re-tarping the carport. With a little bit of effort we were able to make this a two day project.
5/27/2026
We got Rob's Tracker bass boat out of storage.
5/28/2026
Last year's porch pine is past its use by date.
5/28/2026
A new tree - good for this summer's hummingbird perch.
5/29/2026
Bill Mills has returned so the Friday Breakfast Club is back to fiull strength.
6/2/2026
While this seat is comfortable I get a wet butt after sitting in it. It needed to be removed and weep holes drilled through the bottom shell. We'll see.
6/4/2026
After a week thinking about this we finally finished re-tarping the carport.
6/6/2026
This is destined to be a new shelf in the boat house.
6/7/2026
Rob, Terri and Riley head back to Denver too soon.
6/7/2026
One can never have too many horizontal surfaces to store stuff.
6/10/2026
Am I proactive or reactive?
6/10/2026
The old Alumacraft boat needs some maintenance. Bench 1 is structurally sound but isn't the current battleship gray color that I'm using.
6/10/2026
Bench 2 was rebuilt in 2023. I thought maybe using plywood woud be a good idea. It wasn't.
6/10/2026
Bench 3 is also generally in fair shape. There's a crack I think I can fill with Bondo and then paint.
6/10/2026
With three of the benches removed this will be a good time to pressure wash the inside.
6/11/2026
He's just passing through.
6/12/2026
Three boat benches ready for paint.
6/15/2026
Bass over 1 pound
Total number: 31
Total pounds: 71.2
Biggest: 3.8

6/16/2026
Finished! Putting the benches back into the boat is considerably more difficult than taking them out.
6/17/2026
I came back from town this afternoon to find this. Irritating!

6/20/2026
I decided that I wanted some help with the mowing. (I’ll get a better video.)

.

5/29/2026
This township bulliten board needs to be rebuilt. I've been procrastinating.
6/21/2026
Mid-construction
I'm using up a lot of my scrap lumber and yes I am going to paint it.
