I'm finding a lot of rotten wood behind the ledger boards.
That's all of the old deck that's coming down.
But there's so much rot. This is depressing.
And behind the ledger board the outside end of the 2x10 is completely gone.
I need to make some drop siding out of a pressure treated 1 x 8. This is like the molding for the bookcase.
Here we have the finished tongue and groove boards.
After several rain delays the posts are finally set and the band joists have been bolted to them.
Here we are cutting a bunch of joists to the same length.
I'm short a few hangers.
The framing is almost done.
This looks just like yesterday doesn't it? Now everything is nailed in and the diagonals are within 1/8".
The framing is finally done. I did end up replacing the joists in front of the door.
The deck boards aren't nailed in yet, they're just laying there.
This is putting a 3/8" radius on the ends of the deck boards.
The posts and top railing are on now. I feel much safer.
This is the soffit hole I need to fill. Notice the shiplap style profile.
